MaTh activity Thursday: CCSS 4.MD.A.2 (several resourceful math links)

For today's MaTh I am focussing on CCSS 4.MD.A.2 (but feel free to link up with any math related post).
CCSS 4.MD.A.2 states: Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.

I had a really hard time trying to come up with just one specific activity, so I started searching the Internet. In my search for measurement related things I found some great resources (some with measuring but others just had elementary math in general). I thought I would share those with you and make that the activity--going through all these cool free materials.
  • Here is Ontario Education 2007 K-3 Measurement Packet (with 228 pages!  Some is filler, but there are some good activities in there.)
  • Also at Love2Learn2day she has an extensive list of math related books grouped by math subject.
  • I also found this resource (Primary Resources) with fun free worksheets on measurement broken up into grade levels.
  • For grade 4 (in Canada) there is a Jump Math Teachers Guide (532 pages with no filler!)
    • Page 230 has a great time intervals with minutes page.
    • Page 357-258 has a great math bingo game.
    • The pages on showing how multiplication and division work were great!
    • Page 625-627 had various 3D cut out shapes to make among the other great stuff.
  • On amathsdictionaryforkids.com Jenny Eather has made lots of printable charts for measurements and other useful tools for you to teach math.  She even has US measurements. : )
Which one of these is your favorite?
