It has been a while since I have given a book review so I had my book all ready and then I happen to notice that
Collaboration Cuties is having her Math Mentor Text. : )
Today's book is Fun with Roman Numerals by
David A. Adler
According to Amazon the book is for 7 and up. I think that some 7-year-olds might get it, but I think it might still be hard. The author did a good job making Roman numerals understandable. I actually learned a few things! I didn't know they had a way to make large numbers by putting a line over it or even an open box over the number symbol...
The illustrations are fun and sometime comical. I think that kids who want to know how roman numerals work will easily pick it up after reading this book. I feel it may be a bit long for a read aloud, but it could easily be broken up between a couple of days, or even a week.
I know I was intrigued with Roman numerals at about 9 or 10 and I wish I would have had this book back then : )
